What size perm rods to use next time?

I'm a 46 year old male. I had a salon perm (body wave) 6 weeks ago with purple rods. Top partial only. Hair cut is layered about 2-3" top and 1" or less sides. The wrap she used was halo type. 4 rods wide across by 4 or 5 rows deep front to back for a total of 18. Problem is the curl is not holding in now and I think I want more curl definition and less wave next time. Also, the way it was wrapped made it look strange. What I like to call my front "horns" were accentuated instead of having curly bangs or being swept back like I wanted. The picture I showed the stylist was of what is being called a "GI Perm" with fairly tight curls on top with short straight sides. I guess she didn't get the idea. My question for you stylists out there is: What size of rod(s) should be used and what wrap technique, I.e., standard front to back, etc? I'm thinking grey or grey/white. Definitely not pink because that might be too curly. What do you think? Wish I could paste up a picture of it.

i actually believe you should go for pink. the pink looses its intensity but still gives a good curl (i have pink). i think that is your best shot.

I agree with you. You should do grey and white. Pink is almost too small.
