How can I repair my 14 yr old niece's over worked hair??

I have a beautiful 14 yr old niece who unfortunately was taken (by someone else) to get her hair chemically straightened. For some reason she also started using a straightener. I warned her about that thing and she continued to use it. Now her hair has no shine, always gets tangled and recently has been falling out. She has it almost to her waist but I want to take her to a stylist to cut it (most of the tips are destroyed) in hopes that it will promote new growth. I don't know what to do about repairing it. She is so young and had really beautiful jet black and shiny hair. My brother is a single dad and I have also brought it to his attention. He agrees and is willing to get what's neccessary to fix it. Please help!

How can I repair my 14 yr old niece's over worked hair??

Tell her to use Aphogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair and also follow up with the Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor rinse out and then spray in some Aphogee Leave In Conditioner.. Do this for a month and her hair will be back to it's normal stage in no time..

GOOD LUCK!

How can I repair my 14 yr old niece's over worked hair??

The only way to repair hair is using a lot of products to repair and protect because the whole hair is already fragile!

start using good products(shampoo,conditioner,leave-in) if you can spend a little bit more buy products from matrix, sebastian, joico, kerastase! If not fructis have good products an so does pantene!

Once a week moisturize your hair with a special cream and follow the instructions!

But in my opinion the most important thing to do is cut the hair every 2 months! This will eliminate the worst part of the hair(the tips) ,improving the hair quality and estimulating the hair grow process!

And NO! I am not using it to cut hair (I ain't a hair stylist!)! I am using it for someone's birthday party theme. (Hair salon theme)

Your opinion please! Do you need to have a license (TEXAS ONLY!) to buy a salon styling chair for the home?

no, you don't need a license, but they are expensive, especially if you're just using it for the party.

no

Your opinion please! Do you need to have a license (TEXAS ONLY!) to buy a salon styling chair for the home?

sometimes you can find them at garage sales or craigs list. a new one will be really expensive and most suppliers won't sell to you without a salon

Your opinion please! Do you need to have a license (TEXAS ONLY!) to buy a salon styling chair for the home?

i dont live in texas nor do I know anything about hair salons but I am confident that you can buy a chair without a license. its not like beer where they card you! it just a peice of furniture.

Good shorter haircut for my face shape and hair type?

I am considering cutting my hair shorter for summer. I have always wanted to go somewhat short, but scared because I was not sure what would look good on me. I try to ask the stylists I go to, but they always seem like they would rather me tell them what to do and not sure they even know what to say. I have a round face, so super short is out I know and my hair is VERY thick and wavy/curly. It looks best natural, so I do not like stying it. It can be frizzy and unruly at times, but messing with it makes it worse and all in all, my hair is very healthy (stylists always tell me how healthy and pretty it is). I like letting it go curly (straight never looks right with my hair anyway), so something I can let go free and not have to style everyday (messy look is fine)

Good shorter haircut for my face shape and hair type?

We have similar types! I just got my hair cut into a bob, kinda like "Carrie" from sex %26amp; the city , in season 5 (I think) But I love it! i was so sick of pulling it up into a pony tail. So I'm gonna keep it trimmed for summer!

Good Luck!:)

Good shorter haircut for my face shape and hair type?

go ahead

they r gonna grow bak anyway

so no prblem with experimenting

Good shorter haircut for my face shape and hair type?

You know, do your research on hair stylists in your area, if you get a really good one and are willing to pay the money they will never leave you astray. I have cut my hair many times but depending on the stylist if it was a good cut for me or not. I always take in a picture and then ask for advice. Truthfully it is so fun to get a totally new look. Do it, it will grow back... Good luck

Why won't my older stylist use a razor on my curly thin hair? What might be her motives?

I switched to her for razor cuts. She stopped using the razor. I mention the razor every so often, nothing changes.

The cuts are always attractive, and I get compliments -- and tell her I do.

I Know that if I were to say "I want you to use the razor from now on" she either would or not and all would be clear.

Am not sure I want the fuss of taking a stand. But why doesn't she?

Why won't my older stylist use a razor on my curly thin hair? What might be her motives?

Because razor cutting curly thin hair would make it frizz. I would not do it if you were my customer and I do razor cuts all the time on hair that is suitable for razor cutting. If your cuts are always attractive and you get compliments, why are you second-guessing your stylist? If you were my customer and would insist that I razor cut your hair, I'm afraid I would have to tell you "no, if you want your hair ruined, you'll have to go somewhere else and let someone else ruin it."

Why won't my older stylist use a razor on my curly thin hair? What might be her motives?

Your best bet would be to come out and ask her why she's using scissors rather than a razor. Maybe she got lazy or something, since razor cuts do seem to require a little more work on the stylist's part. Or better yet, just make it clear that you want a razor cut when you sit down in the chair, and be sure to tip appropriately when it's all done. If she refuses to the use the razor and won't give a suitable explanation, then go find someone else to do your hair.

Why won't my older stylist use a razor on my curly thin hair? What might be her motives?

next time you go you just have to be straight with her. you should tell her that the past few times she's cut your hair that is has been alright, but you would really prefer it if she used a razor from now on. and say you remember how amazing your hair looked and felt when she razored it. if she says she will not, then you will have to let her know that you will no longer be needing her services.

I need help on son's hair - top is out of control - tips on training it to lie down?

He has blonde, fine hair. Mom says no buzz cuts, but he looks like a hedgehog. The top and crown of his hair refuses to lay down. Stylists say let it grow and add hair weight before cutting, but as soon as we cut it, same problem all over. There has to be a solution somewhere. Please answer seriously and avoid the quick ball cap fix---HATE CAPS. But out of control hedgehog mohawk is not really working for us either,

i just read the last answerers answer and i was shocked!

you're mom is right in saying no buzz cuts clippers ruin the texture of hair...i used to look like apollo golden lock my parents gave me a military cut when i was like two and it became a dirty blond wavy thick mess

if i were you i'd have the stylist cut it super short but using scissors!!!! it will really be a better answer in the long run

His hair will lay down with time, you all just have to get over it. My son's hair stuck up for almost 2 years...it's just something that some hair does...use some gel if you need to. It'll lay down when he's older.

I need help on son's hair - top is out of control - tips on training it to lie down?

My youngest son's hair did the same thing when he was very young. I used to try the sport gel trick and yes it worked, but was hard to upkeep. Perhaps your son has a few natural cowlicks that will always be that way so in that case there is really nothing you can do about it.

If Mom says no buzz cuts then she will have to let his hair grow out longer if that's what the stylists suggest, but then she will have to deal with people thinking he is a little girl when they see his hair longer! Either way has it's pros and cons!

I ended up giving my son a buzz cut, even though I wasn't so big on doing that. He looked adorable with this cut, and it took care of the problem temporarily until he got a little older, and then his hair finally began to flatten out naturally on it's own. We told him he was getting an "army guy cut" because he loves anything military, and my husband gave him more of a military cut. This really does look cute on little boys and there is nothing wrong with them having this type of hairstyle. Please consider it, I was glad I finally did!

I want 'anime' bangs. what should i tell my stylist?

I'm a girl and have really long hair (to my hips). I want to add a little something, i already have a few layers so i want to try bangs, not side bangs. I like how anime girls bangs are, how can i tell my stylist to cut them like that?

I want 'anime' bangs. what should i tell my stylist?

Tell 'em anime hair. If they don't know what yer talkin' 'bout get a new stylist.

I want 'anime' bangs. what should i tell my stylist?

i would bring in a picture to show them

I want 'anime' bangs. what should i tell my stylist?

tell them you want blunt bangs and tell them you don't want it layered into your hair. just straight across.

I want 'anime' bangs. what should i tell my stylist?

I would definitely suggest you printing out a picture (or pictures!) of the anime bangs that you like.

It always helps :]

I want 'anime' bangs. what should i tell my stylist?

Just print out a picture of exactly what you're looking for, multiples would be good, and then just say, "I want to look like this!"

I want 'anime' bangs. what should i tell my stylist?

Get a picture of how you want it and take it to your stylist.

To the fellows: I'm thinking about cutting my own hair, so I can save $...?

How long does it take (after how many self-haircuts) to somewhat be able to do a decent job of cutting one's own hair? Do you cut your own hair for good (haven't been back to a barber or stylist in a long time) and if you have a formal occasion to attend, do you cave in and have someone else cut your hair, or do you not budge and still cut your own hair?

To the fellows: I'm thinking about cutting my own hair, so I can save $...?

Eh, not as good an idea as you'd think. My buddy buzzes his own hair every time he needs a haircut, and he pretty much just gets it down to nothing, but it doesn't look bad. Sort of military. He doesn't have an oddly shaped head though, on me it would probably look like I have cancer. If you're not cutting it down to nothing it will look like a mushroom cut gone horribly wrong. So if you have the shape of head for it, it's not going to hurt, but hey... it's only hair; it WILL grow back.

To the fellows: I'm thinking about cutting my own hair, so I can save $...?

I have electric clippers and simply buzz my hair every two weeks. I look good bald.

Getting over my bad hair?

My hair was recently ruined by bad highlights and later the chi permanent straightener. I am on the road to recovery. I now have bangs (Before they were eaten off by the highlights) and my hair was cut up to my ears, and is now almost shoulder length. However, I'm having to go in every 4 weeks for trims due to all the breakage and frizzing of the bad ends. My stylist (new and good one) says I have about an inch and a half of new hair growth. However, I stay moody and depressed about this because I used to have long naturally curly (yet sometimes frizzy) hair but at least I had hair that was HAIR....not broken off pieces of....well, you know. My family keeps telling me I'm beautiful and that I have a beautiful face and body and that my hair is getting better, but I am struggling and having a real hard time with this. Any suggestions?

Getting over my bad hair?

Maybe some clip in extensions will make you feel better. I don't know if these damage the hair or not but if you want longer hair this might be the answer. I know how you feel, my regular hair stylist quit after about 15 years and I have had to deal with the same thing. Bad hair cuts, bad hair color, split ends, hair breaking off buying every product I can find to condition my hair. I too had curly hair, but always received compliments on how nice my hair looked. Well have not got those compliments for a long time. I think if your hair looks bad it makes you feel bad. But eventually we will be back to normal. Keep getting the bad stuff cut off and one day we will get our hair back. Good luck

Getting over my bad hair?

I'm sorry about you feel that way, and look at this way, hair grows. You could wear a wig maybe, I considered that after getting a rather short on a whim, which happened awhile ago.

Getting over my bad hair?

The same thing happened to me and all you can do is make the best of it. I used the Biosilk Silk thereapy to ease my frizzys and The pantene frizzy hair shampoo really made it look better as well. good luck in your endevour.

Getting over my bad hair?

use pretty caps and big diadems, i am sure u r very pretty so while your hair grows use more makeup and cute cloth so people will look less at your hair .

and in your hair use oils, take care of it, it will soon grow again.

Getting over my bad hair?

Hmm, the terrible in-between stages. You should put a deep moisturizing leave in treatment in your hair every week and always apply a good leave in conditioner before exiting your house. Stay clear of Pantene and other products. Use salon brand herbal shampoos like Aveda. It's a little pricey, but oh so worth it. Another thing that you can do is heat up a little bit of olive oil, rub it into your roots and halfway down your hair, wrap a hot towel around it, then wash it off. Olive oil is a wonderful conditioning treatment that is also cheap.

Getting over my bad hair?

SAMETHING HAPPENNED TO ME ONCE USE A LOT OF GEL PULL BACK ALL YOUR HAIR AND MAKE A PONY TAIL AND WEAR BIG EARRINGS AND WEAR MAKE UP FEEL PRETTY

My hair looks horrible... anyone who knows about hair... please help!!!?

My hair was down to the middle of my back, but my last 2 stylist would always texturize and thin my hair because of the thickness even though I would repeatily say I didnt like it like that. I ended up having a friend cut my hair to my shortest layer (a little past my chin) because I couldnt stand the texturized thinned out look. I found a new stylist and the first time she trimmed up my hair she did so well. The second time (again I reminded her I don't like it texturized and thinned) she ended up texturizing it and thinning it. That was about a month ago. Since my hair is thick it dries really badly with this kind of hairdo. It looks like a horrible poof mess as soon as the texturized layers start.

I'm trying to grow my hair out and promote hair health but the only way to tame my hair is to straighten it. .

Any idea how i could get it cut without too much being cut off? (i'm really trying hard to grow it out.)

Any suggestions on how to style it without product and irons?

My hair looks horrible... anyone who knows about hair... please help!!!?

I have been a hairstylist for over 12 years. I am also a master educator. The reason i think they are thinning/texturizing might be because the style you are showing them. If you tell them it is soooo thick also. Is your hair curly/wavy? Is that why you are using the straighting iron? Using the iron to much can cause your hair to frizz and dry out.. no matter what products you use.

YOU MUST USE PRODUCTS TO STYLE YOUR HAIR. This notion of going natural and having the look you want without products is a wise tale. Why do you think the stylist use products. It is to control your hair, protect your hair, define the style cut.

If you do not want it to feel thinned out.. Just simple get a blunt cut. But remember their is not much of a styled look to that.

It is really hard to say what is going on in your hair without actually seeing it in person. I do a lot of corrective cuts...

Contact me directly. If you do not live in my area I can referr you to excellent hairstylist that are also educators in your area.

My hair looks horrible... anyone who knows about hair... please help!!!?

Hmm. As for the cut, theres nothing more you can do than really drive home the point of not wanting it thinned. But are the hairdressers doing this for a reason? try going to traditional salon and not a trendy one, that works for me!! I hate when hairdressers dont listen properly though, my hair was long too untill mines chopped it ALL OFF! but it grows!!

I think you could do with either using better conditioner or a leave in spray. I found with my frizz, good conditioning gets it under control! You can do away with the heat spray that way. And just perfect your blowdrying, you shouldnt need straightners if you do! Good luck though, i hate when i dont like my hair too!

My hair looks horrible... anyone who knows about hair... please help!!!?

Cut your hair to the shortest layer that you can handle taking it to. This will minimize the layers. Keep repeating this until the layers have completely grown out. Tell the stylist that you want a blunt cut....no layers and no thinning. Tell her you like your thick hair and make it clear. A good conditioner should help smooth the texture some but it will need to grow out.

I saw another answer about having to use products. No you do not HAVE to use products. It really depends on the style you are trying to achieve as well as your hair type and texture. Often a good cut and proper blow dry (blow downward from the top of your head to prevent frizz) can give a natural beautiful style. For example if you want spiked hair of course you will need product for that. I think mousse is a good product for light control but I really think hairspray is very unnatural looking no matter what the style. Too much product can actually dampen style, I like touchable hair. :)

Hairstylists use products to hold a style in place...usually a style with layers and/or thinning. Hairdressers think style is about flips, layers and what not....often 'experienced' hairdressers get deeply into their habits and ideas of what they consider style and sometimes take it a little too far, which you have noticed. This is why they keep giving you that type of a cut. Not everyone likes that, it is a lot of maintenance and is not always practical, so do not feel as though it is necessary. Get what you are comfortable with. You can go with the blunt cut until your thinned layers grow out and then take it from there. If your hair is wavy or curly, any stylist should know that thinning and layers will cause tons of frizz (it can also create frizz in straight hair, but not to the same degree) but they are concerned with style and use loads of product to control the style and the frizz that comes with it. It just really isn't practical at all, many of us do not want to spend oodles of time on our hair to have cover girl style. Many stylist think they know what you want better than you. You need to tell them what YOU want and make it clear so their ears start working again and that should help solve their scissor happy ways for the future.

My hair looks horrible... anyone who knows about hair... please help!!!?

i had the same problem untill i learned to deal with what i had. What i did was just do the same routine. don't go to the shop any more because they always **** your hair u. Just keep straightening it. and makig sure its oily. ( not too oily) Just enough so you hair don't catch fire in the sun. And wash every week. I had to do this for about 3 months before i could tame it. Also DO NOT PUT CHEMICALS IN HAIR. (gell, jam, sprits) these things will cause your hair to break off. Just wash, wrap, grease (if black) and straighten it. It depends on how offen your hair gets dry for you to grease it. ( you determin.) Aslo wrap hair every night. Just follow the same steps every week or every other week when you wash your hair. if your not comfortable using my idea just come up with your own.

Your friend Kisses.

Salon Trim Split Ends...Trim to much hair?

I have a question. I am African-American and visit a salon every six weeks for a relaxer touch up. Everytime I go, the stylist clips my end, however I have noticed that she clips more than the ends...she clips my hair. A few months ago, my hair was two and a half inches past my shoulder. Now it is just an inch past my shoulder and it makes me mad. Is this normal? My ends were not that bad. How do I know how much the stylist should cut? It seems like she just continues to cut off the growth I get each month. I am really frustrated. What should I do?

Salon Trim Split Ends...Trim to much hair?

Your ends may be worse than you think because of the relaxing treatments. I hadn't gotten my hair cut in a couple months and just wanted to get the bad ends off...ended up with 4 inches cut off my hair! I had no idea it was that bad. I would talk to your stylist about it though, make sure she's just cutting the bad parts. If you think it's not bad at all you could just ask her not to trim it. If you're trying to grow out your hair though, keeping your ends nice will help it look better when it does eventually grow out.

Salon Trim Split Ends...Trim to much hair?

Talk to her about it. Tell her you only want an inch off as that should take care of any split ends.

Salon Trim Split Ends...Trim to much hair?

Tell her how you feel. Don't worry about offending her, she might get a little pricked at you now, but you might save her her job in the future! (if she cut off to much of a certain persons hair she might get it!) Tell her you like your hair long, and that you'd appreciate it if she would cut only the minimum you need cut.

OR don't get your hair cut!

Salon Trim Split Ends...Trim to much hair?

find a stylist that is not scissor happy

Salon Trim Split Ends...Trim to much hair?

tell her repedily that u ONLY want the split ends off. u said that your split ends arent bad so she souldnt be cutting that much off. if she continues this go to a neew salon

good lluck

-mae

Salon Trim Split Ends...Trim to much hair?

You need to tell her exactly how much you do want cut. Or at least tell her a limit. Like, I don't want over an inch no matter what. An inch and a half shorter isn't that much shorter if your hair wasn't in good shape. But, you said it was in good shape. Maybe she thought that it was more damaged than you thought. Sounds like you guys have a communication problem. You just need to express how you feel about it or find a new hair stylist.

Salon Trim Split Ends...Trim to much hair?

hair grows on average about an inch every 6 weeks and your hairdresser is probably under the impression that you are happy with the length if you have been doing the same thing for a long time if your not happy then talk to her! i would never let someone cut my hair if i had trouble communuicating with them!

Salon Trim Split Ends...Trim to much hair?

Do you go to the same stylist every time? Or is it a different person?

If it's the same stylist, confront him/her about it so that they can explain why they took so much off.

If it's a different person, explain what you want done, and have them show you on your hair BEFORE THEY CUT IT where they judge the split ends to stop, that way you know where your hair will be cut, and you both agree on the amount being cut before you go under the clipper.

Normally after 6 weeks they should cut no more than 1/2 an inch for a healthy trim, but relaxers can cause more damage...CAN...but not ALWAYS...so this may not be your case.

My hair is extremely long (13 inches past my waist), and a "clip happy" stylist would probably make me go postal. I make them point where they will cut beforehand, and if I disagree with the point they choose, I walk out...because most stylists have HUGE egos.

Best thing to do is find someone who has hair like yours...texture AND length...they will understand you better. It's hard but pays off in the end.

Hope that helps!

*cheers*

Salon Trim Split Ends...Trim to much hair?

Your hair only needs to be clipped if your ends are damaged. Stylists have the tendency to get very scissor happy and our hair suffers. I had your same experience a week or so ago and I am not happy. You need to tell him/her you DO NOT want your ends clipped. It's your hair and you're paying them for a service, your request should be respected. I'm only getting my ends clipped every few months, not weeks. If you want to learn more about maintaining your length, growth, treating split ends at home, the right kind of shampoos and even more information go to www.healthytextures.com and www.healthytextures.ning.com I have learned priceless information from real women with real results including me, and great advice. We've been mis educated about our hair alot of the time. Time to educate yourself. :)

World's smallest fly-aways?

Ok, I got some really small (one, two inch) hairs at the TOP of my head, and no matter what, I can't flatten them. I've tried anti-frizz, shampoos, conditioners, and whatnot! They look like a mini mohawk (xD). Would softening my hair work, it's what my mom said. If so, how, besides putting mayo in your hair. I want a NON damaging solution, and non sticky solution... OR can you cut them? My last stylist (thank god I left her) said no. :(

Oh, and you know, like, say you've got really fine, baby hair near your forehead? Can a stylist cut them out without shaving your head bald? :D

Sorry for all the questions! I'm nervous! My hair gets cut today and all other cuts I've gotten were horrible! School starts in a week too! Please help? :(

World's smallest fly-aways?

I have the same problem. For me mostly it goes in cycles, for about a month or so I'll have so many fly aways it's crazy. But in the next month as they grow out my hair will look nice again. What I do is spray a bit of hair spray on my hand, and then smooth my hair down that way (start at the top and slide my hand down). Also, something that helps keep it down is using a straightener on it. Don't even try to cut the fly aways or baby hair off. This one girl that I know did that (not the sharpest crayon in the box) cut her bangs to the root because she was sick of them sticking up, and she had a mo-hawk type bangs for weeks. It was hilarious. If you are going to get your hair cut, ask the stylist for a deep conditioning treatment (you'll have to pay for it, but worth it). Or after you shampoo your hair, but a ton of conditioner in your hair and put a shower cap on and wrap up in a towel and go outside for the heat or just sit inside for 15-20 minutes.

World's smallest fly-aways?

it sounds like you keep your hair up in a ponytail alot and your hair is breaking you cant get them cut it would look very bad just keep hair treatments on them and your hair down it will grow out

Okay I want to straighten my hair out.....It doesn't have to be pin straight....i just want to get rid of the curls....wavy is fine....just noooooo curls or hoops whatever....and i have very curly hair. Any idea on how I can Straighten it out without relaxing, Ironing, Blow drying or anything like that? Maybe theres a certain way i should put up my hair before i sleep so that it comes out straighter in the morning? I used to have the emo/scene whatever you want to call it haircut because i had wavy-ish hair that would easily straighten out on its own...until i got a fag for a stylist that cut it all wrong and made it super curly. I miss my old hair style.....alot!.....can anyone help....I just want to naturally...%26lt;-- yes NATURALLY get rid of these stupid curls and atleast turn them into waves...

Hair cuts?!?!?

Hey yall, I need to know what style of haircut best suits my face. I have an oval face and I want to keep my long hair. The length is about 3 inches past the top of my shoulders, just above the chest area. Do yall have some websites, or photos of your own I may show my stylist?? Also, the closest celeb I found who matched my facial features and structure was Ashlee Simpson, I don't know if that helps yall.

Hair cuts?!?!?

I am a hairdresser....If you have an oval face, just pick your favorite style and Go For It!!! Oval faces can wear anything and be attractive, so let the creative side come out....if you want to keep your length, try some choppy layers and frame your face with highlights. I guess age would need to play a part in it as well. If your in your teens, then go with the latest trends and make it your own, if your older, say 30ish or working in corporate

America, you would definitely want something more conservative, but my personal preference with oval faces and medium to long hair is obvious choppy layers.

Hair cuts?!?!?

Cant help you out with pics but layers layers layers. You wanna get lots of layers because that will make your hair stand out from your face more, especially with an oval shaped face.

Hair cuts?!?!?

im growing my hair out to so if your trying to grow it out maby a trim would be best

Hair cuts?!?!?

just look on magizine website's, like your fave magizine should have a website!

Hair cuts?!?!?

Ya know i had the same problem and im so picky about my hair. I was scared when i first decided what i was going to do. I have a face somewhat like that and i decided to keep the length like you want to do. So what i decided to do was to get it layered and then have bangs that go off to one side. Not short ones something long enough to tuck behind your ear.

Get a new hairdresser or move on???

I give up! Moved to a different area and my first hair dresser cuts my mid-length (and important-to-me) hair into a bunch of yuck layers. On to a different hair stylist and she's cutting me the same way and I'm not happy with her color. All that I want is my naturally medium brown color underneath with some blonde weaves on top - NO length taken off.

Please help me put the right words in my mouth! I just want to grow it all a bit with a pretty color, too.

Should I move on to a different stylist? I have someone else in mind. Thank you so much for your time and help. Happy Holidays!

Get a new hairdresser or move on???

seems like your pretty picky, don't worry i am too. give your hairdresser another chance. tell her exactly what you want. the best thing to do is bring her pictures. a hairdresser can work off pictures very easily because sometimes they don't see what you see. if she messes up your hair again don't tip and move on hunny. :]

Get a new hairdresser or move on???

well it depends. did u tell the hairdressers you didn't want it cut. remember, be specific about what you want and don't let hairdressers pressure you into something you don't want because it's your hair and money. a hairdresser kept trying to talk me into getting bangs and getting red hair even though i wanted one layer and brown. it's been months and i still don't like it and i'm trying to grow my hair out. ultimately it was my decision and i shouldn't have got bangs. so now i'm paying for my mistake

Get a new hairdresser or move on???

Is this a new trend?

Recently, while going to my hair stylist a client came in with a bottle of wine to share with some of the employees and other clients.

Now my husband thinks we should do the same thing when we go to get our hair cut. I am wondering, has anyone else seen this done? Is it a new (or old) trend?

Is this a new trend?

I've seen some salons offer wine to clients but it was a special occasion or right before a holiday. I've also seen people give wine to their hair dressers as gifts for b-day, etc.

But I've never seen what you described. Maybe the client is really into wine %26amp; just felt like it that day.

No - you shouldn't bring wine to share because who wants a tipsy hair dresser? Plus, it could be a burden for the salon - legally %26amp; liability insurance wise.

A good tip is what is most appreciated.

Is this a new trend?

I def. don't think that's a good idea, because what if the hairdresser gets drunk and messes up? I mean, if you want to bring in some wine, then by all means do it, but be careful of how much your hairdresser drinks...lol. I never heard of that before, that's pretty wierd. Was it in celebration???

Is this a new trend?

I don't know. I think in a place like this, it would be unprofessional to have a drink while you are getting ready to style or cut someone's hair. That's insane. I would not want my stylist to be the slightest bit of drunk while she's got some scissors to my scalp.

I've seen it before though. Maybe the client feels like they have a relationship like that where they can bring wine to the stylist. Whenever we go to the Japanese Steakhouses (haibachi), we always get out chef bombed. It's pretty funny. We've done that to the last four or five chefs. Good time.

Is this a new trend?

no i have never seen that done.....

Do you find this funny or what?

A blonde walks into GreatClips, and the hair stylist says, "Ma'am, I'm gonna need you to take those headphones off if you're going to get a hair-cut."

"But I can't take them off," Replys the blonde.

"Well, then, you can't get your haircut,"

So, he walks away to help other customers, and leaves the blonde sitting in the chair.

About 30mins. later, he comes back and he finds her sleeping in the chair.

He decides to see what is so important about these headphones. He gently pulls off the headphones without trying to wake up the blonde, puts them down, then realizes that the blonde's face is turning reddish-purple.

The hair stylist, scared, puts the headphones up to his ear and he hears the words, "Breathe in, Breathe out. Breathe in, Breathe out."

The stylist puts the headphones back on the blonde, wakes her up, and walks her out of the store.

Do you find this funny or what?

wow if thi isnt the 20 billionth time ive heard that 1... still funny thow

Do you find this funny or what?

haha...never heard it before.

Do you find this funny or what?

heehee...good one

Do you find this funny or what?

heard a different version before, still makes me smile!

Do you find this funny or what?

HAHA LOL my sister told me that once it is one of my all time fave blonde jokes. o and im blonde but i LOV dem.

Do you find this funny or what?

nope i don't really find it funny

Do you find this funny or what?

Not really- I've heard it a million times before

Do you find this funny or what?

i love that one it is soooo funny.

Is it too late??

ok... well i got my hair cut and i wanted my bangs to look like the olsen twin (the blonde one) http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images... but the hair stylist sniped it to this http://images.askmen.com/galleries/actre... how can i change my bangs to look like the blond olsen??

Is it too late??

Wait for them to grow out and start straightening your bangs.

Is it too late??

nope

Is it too late??

Try using a strightner

Is it too late??

No, it is not too late. There really isn't too much of an difference. I agree you should just flat iron it straight.

Is it too late??

sweep it to the other side and straighten it more and just wait for it to grow out more =D

Is it too late??

You can have your stylist cut long layers to frame your face in the meantime and you can clip your shorter bangs underneath to give the illusion of smaller bangs.

Is it too late??

no its not to late just bring a pic of the olsen twin and maybe say you want it to look like her hair cut but fit it with the bangs u already have u mostly just need a frame (the hair that looks like looong bang that go below you ear.) hope i helped

Holiday tipping?

I'm getting my hair cut this weekend and this is going to be the last time i see my hair stylist til after christmas and i want to give her a decent tip. My haircut is $15, i usually tip her $5. What would be an appropriate tip for Christmas?

Holiday tipping?

Five dollars for the haircut is more than adequate. Why do you feel you have to give her more at Christmas? If you have been a client of hers for years, perhaps a Starbuck's gift card or something along that line.

Holiday tipping?

well, 5 dollars for a 15 dollar haircut is VERY generous. i mean, I am guessing you are going to a great clips, and not to an actual salon...am I right?

but if you are close to her, I would give her the usual 5 dollars, but maybe a small gift too...something cheap but nice to show her you care.

Holiday tipping?

I would think five or ten dollars would be a nice little christmas bonus.

Holiday tipping?

My salon visits were a bit higher than yours, but I always tipped her a $20 at Christmas (I tipped $10 the rest of the year) because she was awesome and I appreciated her.

Holiday tipping?

10 dollars.

The haircut is at a good price and most places charge about 25 dollars anyways.

Holiday tipping?

$5 is fine maybe take her some chocs sure she won't expect anything.

Holiday tipping?

$5.00 is still enough, but you might want to take her a Christmas ornament or fruitcake, etc.

Holiday tipping?

I would say that $5.00 is a very generous tip (33%) and thats sufficient enough.

Holiday tipping?

I would say $5 would be fine, $10 if you want to be very generous.

Holiday tipping?

Five dollars is fine, it's not cutting her low and it's not over generous either. Remember you're not her only customer, she'll get many more tips. Just wish her a Happy Holidays and you'll set.

Omg someone help me!!!!?

i want to get my hair cut, like i want it in layers, but i want the bottom/last layer at least 3 inches longer then the rest, and i want that last layer to be shaped like a v , then i want that layer jet black then the other layers, burgundy with highlights

how much wud that be, and any recomendations to a get hair stylist?

Omg someone help me!!!!?

that sounds kool i wish i would of thought of it first! i need to know ur area 4 me to be able to recommend a stylist!

Omg someone help me!!!!?

if you live in killeen you should go to the barber place near the 7 eleven theyll cost like 10 - 12 bucks for the layer if you want it dyed too just go to the salon but only for the dye cuz the cut is espensive trust me i got my hair layerd so good for just 11 bucks

Omg someone help me!!!!?

getting the color is going to cost the most. but i do NOT recommend any very cheap place for this project. Things like this can be ruind very easly so go to a place in the mall. Great places are Regis and Klassy Kuts. Regis is more epensive but it is definatly worth it. Most of the price depends on how much dye you need for your hair. I hope this helped.

How do I describe this haircut?

I want to get my hair cut like this:

http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/3075/... .

How do I describe it to my hair stylist.

How do I describe this haircut?

print out the picture and show it to her/him. That way there is no unfortunate misunderstandings.

How do I describe this haircut?

Print it out and show it to your hair stylist. Tell him/ her that's the style you want.

How do I describe this haircut?

Why don't you just print the picture and take it to your stylist? That's what I always do. It's so much easier than explaining what you want your hair to look like. The picture is really hard to describe, considering you can hardly see any of the hair.

How do I describe this haircut?

that really is not a great picture. the background is black and there is a pole or bar across his forehead. all i can see are some wispy bangs above his eyes. print this picture out and take it to your stylist. maybe they'll have a better picture in one of their books.

How do I describe this haircut?

i think evryones saying the same thing;; but i;ll just say it again. print it out and take it to your stylist.

Tips for all different type of Hairstyles

I'm getting my hair done this weekend...quick question?

I'm going to a new stylist this weekend to get a cut and color. I want to add some depth to my hair so I don't just want one solid color...and I don't want blonde, orange, or red toned hilights either. Would it look nice if I got highlights just about 1-2 shades lighter than my normal hair? My hair is dark brown.

Also, I have really coarse, frizzy, wavy hair. I normally always straight iron it. Should I go into the salon w/ my hair how it is if I don't straighten it? Would it help the stylist to be able to get a better idea of how to cut my hair?

I'm getting my hair done this weekend...quick question?

I think you should go into the salon with your hair the way it naturally is so she knows what she is dealing with. As far as highlighting, it depends on what kind of look you want. Going 1-2 shades lighter than your natural hair color is subtle, but it should look nice. If you wanted something more noticeable, go for the lighter and brighter colors.

I'm getting my hair done this weekend...quick question?

It would look great with those highlights it would be a subtle change. I think you should where your hair natural but definately explain that you straighten your hair regularly

I'm getting my hair done this weekend...quick question?

The general rule of thumb when going to a new stylist for the first time is to go in wearing your hair in it's normal style, the way you wear it most often. If that's straightened for you, go in with it straightened. It will be important for her to know the usual style for you anyway...if you usually part it on the right side, don't go in to the salon with it parted in the middle. This ensures you get the cut you desire.

As far as the highlights go, 1-2 shades of lighter brown may not be nearly as noticable as you'd like it to be. If you want something different (since you don't want the blonde streaks, etc), maybe try getting lowlights instead, depending on how dark brown your hair is. Lowlights are the opposite of highlights but they give a whole new dimension to your hair. If the hair is VERY dark brown, a lighter brown highlight may work, but it may be more than 1-2 shades lighter than natural hair color.

Good luck!

Hair stylists or girls who bleach their hair?

I'm gonna get my hair bleached (at a salon). I have reddish brown, thick hair, a little passed my shoulders. I want it a golden blonde color ( not yellow). How do they achieve this? Will all they have to do is bleach it? Or will they have to apply a blonde dye over it? Or a toner? How much will this cost at a salon that charges about 30 dollars for a cut?

Hair stylists or girls who bleach their hair?

I naturally have dark brown hair and currently platinum boknd hair. First of all when you bleach your hair you damage it quite a bit. My hair breaks very easy and I have to be very careful with it. My hair girl started giving me highlights before I went all the way blond. When she bleached it she had to use bleach, then a toner afterwards. That will take away the yellow color. I pay 90 for mine, so I am not sure what your salon will charge. It also took me a few times to get to the shade that I wanted.

Hair stylists or girls who bleach their hair?

I would check with the salons in your area before you actually make the appointment. Go in and ask them what they would do and how much they charge for it. You can comparison shop and decide afterwards where you want to go.

Hair stylists or girls who bleach their hair?

get a nice big bob

Hair stylists or girls who bleach their hair?

Usually, to lighten hair as dark as yours, stylists will give you a weave- highlighting sections evenly thorough-out your hair with one or more colors alternately with your natural hair color. This will give you a more natural all-over blonde shade, with less noticeable roots and grow out. Expect to pay around $100 for this, and don't forget the tip!

Hair stylists or girls who bleach their hair?

Does your "Reddish Brown ,, Thick hair have any color on it currently??? If so what color is on it????? If it doesn't have color on it, then go in there with at least $125.00 to about $150.00,,,,,and if they use a good quality color of "Golden Blonde".... and a 20 Vol H2O2. mixture...and small parting, without an ash base.... (ash is green%26lt;%26gt;%26lt; and with your red, if they add ash you won't see much of a change) Red is the dominant color.....but if they use "Golden Blonde".... and bring it up 2 levels, you'll see a nice hint of golden highlites,,,,mixed in with your red hair,,,,and it'll be very natural, without a huge change,,,just a suttle hint of color is always a good way to go when doing introductory color. (H2O2= Hydrogen Peroxide).

When doing simple changes or suttle changes always ask to look at their style books, on color. Ask if they use the "So Color" Line.... Or another creme color line equally good, or if they use liquid colors....... The only difference is in the prep time, and in the fadeing off time, and time spent in the chair.

And to an up-scale salon, time is money,,,,so they'll probably use a liquid color...... but my opinion is in using a creme color and a creme developer, yeah it takes more time to apply and mix up, but you actually get a better color and one that is more true color ..... Bleeching is not always needed,,,,,unless there is a lot of color on the hair before they start, and if you just want bleeched hair... again tho, red hair will take time, ,, as its a very dominent color. Again, ask lots and lots of questions, ask if they do computer analysis, which by the way is a great service.....it helps to determine what color would not only look good on us, but what cut would look good as well, then ask to look at their color books.......and look around your salon.... Do they have a lot of product on their shelves??? Look for things like "Moisture Shampoo's" or "Silk Drops", Or Shampoo's and Conditioners for "Color Treated Hair".......Ask your stylist what would work best for your thick hair...... I know "Paul Mitchell" makes a good shampoo and conditioner, for color treated hair....and there are others.... Redken has some too. Don't be afraid to ask questions..... its your hair after all,,,,,and remember there are not dumb questions.... k? AND Good Luck....

WOW !! $30.00 for a haircut eh?? ANd to think I'm still doing them for 10.00..... :( :( I still cut hair once in a while.....

Side swept bangs?

i want to get my hair cut, and am interested in side swept bangs. i have black hair, brown eyes, and a round face. my hair is about 4 inches below the shoulder. i would really like to change my hairstyle. would you recommend me getting side swept bangs. would they look good on me? and if you could, some pictures to show my hair stylist?

Side swept bangs?

I think side swept bangs look really cute on people with your length of hair because you can put it up in ponytail or down and it still looks cute.

Side swept bangs?

well this is a tough decision since i don't know exactly what you look like but i myself have side-swept bangs. hmmm.... look at yourself in the mirror to see if you think that that sort of style would look good on you. but based on your info, i think that's a good idea :)

Side swept bangs?

I think they would look great! i have side swept bangs and i love them! they complement any girls face to me.. worse comes to worse if you get tired of them pull them back. But i think you should go for it! Heres a site that shows some girls with them... good luck!

What is the best way to grow out highlights fast?

I have naturally light brown/dirty blonde long hair. I used to use Sun In to get the look of highlights and I'm ready to go back to my natural color. My highlights are about 1/3 of the way grown out. It doesn't look that great since the top of my hair is brown and the bottom is blonde. I really need the highlights to grow out as fast as possible. My hair stylist suggested lowlights a long time ago but I don't want anymore dye in my hair. Is this the best option? My mom suggested that I should get a good bit of my hair cut off (3 inches or so) so that it will take the highlights less time to grow out. Any suggestions? Thank you very much!

What is the best way to grow out highlights fast?

Cutting hair does not make it grow any faster or slower.

The only suggestion is something you don't want, and that is to dye it your natural color, then as it grows in, it will blend.

What is the best way to grow out highlights fast?

hair cut, or dye over the dye,

What is the best way to grow out highlights fast?

Just close your eyes really really tight.

Concentrate on the top of your head and, with all the strength you can muster, push real hard.

Keep this up till the right amount of hair is forced through you skull - then get them cut out.

What is the best way to grow out highlights fast?

you can cut it, but when i had blonde highlights in my hair (i have naturally brown hair) i started using the shampoos and conditioners that slowly dispense brown die into your hair everytime you wash. brilliant brunette and brands like that help to slowly put back into your highlights without totally redying.

What is the best way to grow out highlights fast?

if i were you, i would simply but a demi permanent color over the highlights...

What is the best way to grow out highlights fast?

You could have your stylist put in lowlights with semi or demi permanent color. Also you could have he/she use a hyper shine gloss color treatment like Matrix Prizms. It works more like a conditioner than a color, and over time, it will fade a little. I am a salon owner and have been doing hair for 14 years. Lowlights would blend it a little, but if you used Prizms on all of the light hair, it would only increase the pigment, shine and moisture in your hair- it really couldn't hurt. Good luck!!

It's got to be bleach blonde on top and black underneath. add really short layers up top and keep it shoulder length. Side part it and have side swept bangs. I linked a bunch of pictures below.

After your cut and color be sure to put lots of gawdy plastic clips and barrets in your hair.

Professional hair stylists please help!!!?

okay...i really want to do my hair like this

but I wanna try and do it at home, my mom said she would help...I wanna know if its possible to do it at home w/o it looking like I actually did it at home ya know? like what would be the appropriate steps in getting this look?? oh: [[i don't want the cut and the bob, just the color on the side]] THANKS!

Professional hair stylists please help!!!?

get a bleach kit at sally beauty, apply the bleach, leave it on till it's really light, wash out, blow dry, apply the color. leave it on for the recommended time. my suggestion to you is to wrap foil around the bleached part so that you don't lighten hair that you don't want to, same with the color. the best dye for the purple, and other crazy colors, is manic panic, also at sally beauty.

Professional hair stylists please help!!!?

I really wouldnt recommend it. because u have to cut it like that but if u have to, make sure its all leveled

Any hair stylists here??

Could you help me in finding a new hairstyle?? I have a square face and a lot of straight fine hair (pretty thick). At the moment I have quite long hair which is slightly layered. I really want to get a short haircut, but I'm not sure what to go for. I have quite a heavy fringe, which I'd like to keep, cos I think it'd look quite dramatic with a shorter cut. I'd like something sophisticated and chic, maybe flicky out around the jawline, maybe something between a bob and a crop, which are both obviously quite fashionable at the moment. want to re-invent myself before going to university - someing fresh and new!! what do you think would suit me? if you have a description or photo, that would be great!! thankyou so much.

Any hair stylists here??

E-mail me! I can give you tons of tips and ideas, but I need to know more about what type of look you are going for and more features about you! Sending me a pic would be great! I will help as much as possible and send you what I can! Good luck and happy haircutting!

Any hair stylists here?

My wedding is 12 August and I have everything in line... except an idea for my hair. It will be about shoulder length by then, I can't decide whether or not I want to wear it up, down, curly, straight or what. My dress is a "V cut" halter that is rather basic and easy since it's a small intimate wedding. I don't want my hair to be outrageous and wild with a simple dress. Please help me with some insight!

Any hair stylists here?

Without knowing any more about you (coloring, face shape, veil or tiara type, etc), I'd suggest gentle waves (best made with large, soft curlers) with a flexible-hold hairspray. Waves have an earthy look to them that seems to go well with simpler, more intimate weddings like yours. Since your dress is a V-neck and a halter, you'll want to pull some of your hair up to show off your neck and decolletage, so I would also suggest a loose knot, either with half of your hair pulled up or all of it pulled back at the nape of your neck. If you have a veil (and aren't doing a blusher in front of your face), I'd go for this second option, then attach the veil underneath the knot. For a blusher veil, I'd say half-up with the veil attached at the crown of your head works best. A tiara or comb goes well with either option. Good luck, and congratulations!

Any hair stylists here?

i just got married and mine was simple too. i would wear it half up and half down with alittle wave, they say to wear it like you would if you went out because by the end of the day it will be falling down anyway.

Any hair stylists here?

I would say keep it simple with maybe it half up and half down and all curly. You could wear it however you like, but if you always wear your hair down maybe consider sticking with that or vice versa to keep your personality in the wedding.

It depends if you will be wearing a headpiece or not.

Also, if it's a evening affair, is best if you wear it up. If it's an informal or daytime affair is best down and wavy.

Whatever you decide, don't try new radical haircuts or haircolor right before the wedding!!!!

Congratulations and good luck.

Any hair stylists here?

You need a blowdryer, styling mousse or lotion, a brush, wide-toothed comb, pins, a fat curling iron, hot rollers, hairpins, holding spray %26amp; hairspray. First step: Wash hair %26amp; put styling lotion in hair working from the roots out. Blow dry your hair thoroughly. This style works best on VERY dry hair. After hair is dry: Now you'll want to roll hair in hot rollers. Spritz holding spray on pieces of hair before rolling in big curlers. Once curls are cool: Take out rollers one at a time, teasing each piece a bit at the root. Be careful to keep chunky pieces together. Pull hair back in a loose ponytail Next, how to create the look in the picture: Take chunky piece of hair and roll it up, pinning it in place on your crown. Do this with each chunky piece, but be sure %26amp; curl %26amp; pin hair in alternating directions. Sometimes you'll want to roll in, sometimes out. The trick is to alternate while keeping the chunks in place. If you have bangs: You'll want to leave bangs out of the style. Part them on the side %26amp; smooth along face. Last but not least: Add extra pins for support then spray the whole look in place. Please visit the website for more information. I hope it works, best of luck to you!

I think you should wear it up since its going to be really hot in a wedding dress even if it is inside with AC your dress is probably long to the floor and there really is no way to get cooler so have your hair up and its one less thing you have to worry about.

A wedding specialist on The View says that long hair is the trend. Try for soft flowing curls.

In the debate, did former Sen. Edwards hair look like it had had a $400 cut?

i feel it has looked better and if he did pay $400 for this one he got ripped off, it just didn't look as good, a lttle shorter on the right side, his left. Your observation. Also I wonder if that was a one time deal to help a stylist in need. I have tipped more when I knew they had a problem.
