I have fine thin hair, and my natural curl is now growing back in from a bad chemical straightener done about 7 months ago, but it is in an AWFUL in between stage due to the fact that a stylist in February chopped the heck out of it to get a lot of the damage off. So, since the sides were chopped up shorter than the back, I got extensions in the sides because I was so depressed about the cut. I should have left well enough alone and just let it grow out from the bad chemical without getting him to chop it all off. Anyway, what's done is done, but now since it's so fine and thin, shampoo plus conditioner in one works better but makes it shed worse, and shampoo and separate conditioner makes it a little greasier and won't hold a style as well. Is there a good shampoo and conditioner in one that does not damage the hair and helps it while it grows. Please explain to me the purpose of conditioner. Does it close the hair shaft and protect it or is it just for shine?

the best i've ever come across is both by Nexxus...biotin shampoo (it's a hair strengthener and made for fine hair). and, assure conditioner (it's light and made for fine hair also).
make sure you shampoo your hair with warm water and rinse with cool (sometimes i start to rinse with warm water, and follow up with cool. it seems to get the conditioner out better for me). this will leave you hair with more shine and is just better for your hair!
