Is it the same thing???

Okay, I was going to get my hair trimmed a bit because I have a lot of dead ends. But I'm not sure that I want to go to get it proffesionally done because 1. I dont have a lot of money right now and my parents are making me pay for it. 2. I'm afraid the hair stylist might get the improper communication and cut it more or less than what I want it. Soo is it the same thing if I cut it at home? Just using some regular scissors? Does it require a different type of scissors? What else should I use? Or is this even a good idea at all? What makes it different? Please answer A.S.A.P. Thank you!

Wet your Hair, %26amp; Cut Away.

Get someone else to cut it for you. Make sure it's wet, and use SHARP scissors. Just do a nice straight line, and it'll be fine. Or you could try to find a cosmetology school near you that cuts hair for real cheap because they have their students do it. Try to find an Aveda Institute around you, that's where I get my hair cut for 15$, and I've always been happy!

you can do it at home.

obviously wet your hair first.

and its probably best to have someone else do it for you so its all even.

first of all, dont cut it your self, itll turn out to be a big disaster. Go to some one and say EXACTLY how much hair you want to be cut off(1,2,3,or even 4 inches). if you're shy then tell your mom and shell tell the hair dresser.

If you do decide to cut it your self(witch is a bad idea) have a friend or even better your mom do it for you, they can see the back of your head. USE HAIRCUTTING SCISSORS! Regular house scissors will never get it even. You will only get away with this if you have curly hair, so save some money if your hair is strait or wavy.

I would say, not a good idea. Hairdressing scissors are made for hair. They have been thought up by engineers to not damage your hair. Regular household scissors will probably lead to split ends. Do research around you to find a cosmetology school. They usually charge between 5-10 dollars and the students have to do so many hours before they can even work on clients. Many people fear that it will come out wrong, but that is why there are teachers. They look over their shoulder. One of the best things to do is to bring in a picture. Therefore, there is no miscommunication. Cutting hair is not an easy thing, especially without proper training. Many stylists have measurements on their combs, if you say you want an inch off, have them show you a true inch. You may really want more or less. Hope all of this helps!!! Think about it, if you mess it up, you will have to pay for someone to fix it anyways...

well if you cut it at home there is a chance that you wont get it right.. and youll have to go to a pro anyhow... have you ever cut your own hair? Me personally i cut my own hair all the time and i have been for years.. but the first time i really made it funky... But yes, you can do it at home and any scissors will do.. jsut make sure they are sharp or they wont cut very well and can acatually cause more split ends if they are dull. If you dotn have a lot of money but go to a salon- find one that is cheao and if it is just a trim it will be pretty easy since you are not changing styles and even a cheap place would work. Here we have bo-rics and its like 10-15 dollars for a haircut. I wouldnt go to them for a "real" hair cut cuz they dont do that great a job, but a trim sure :) Good luck
