Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

Scenario #1:

Let閳ユ獨 say you閳ユ獧e at Wal-Mart and they have your favorite box of cereal on sale for $1.99 each. You later look at your receipt and realize you were charged the normal price of $2.99 each. Would you go back to the store for a refund or let it ride?

Scenario #2:

You and a friend are at a restaurant eating dinner. You meant to tip the waitress $5.00 but you later realize you accidentally left $20. Would you contact the restaurant for a refund or let it ride?

Scenario #3:

You go to a new hair stylist and she gives you highlights and a cut. You also decide to purchase the shampoo and conditioner that she used; however, you decide you閳ユ獧e not going to leave her a tip for whatever reason. The bill comes to $150.00 and you give her $200.00 (two $100.00 bills) because that閳ユ獨 all you have. She gives you back $20.00, assuming you left her a 20% ($30.00). Do you confront her about it or let it ride?

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

Really good questions . . .

Scenario 1: It depends, how far away is the store. With gas prices at $3.00 per gallon, it would depend if the store was in close distance or not.

As my mother-n-law would say: A dollar is a dollar, if it's owed to me, I want it!

Scenario 2: I would probably feel like an idiot after this one, so no, because I would see that as MY mistake, not the waiters.

Scenario 3: Yeah, you bet I'd say something. You never "assume" your getting anything, so for the stylist to "assume" I'm leaving her a tip, would piss me off, even if I was leaving a $30.00 tip. You never take until it's offered!

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

GET ALL YOUR MONEY BACK FROM THESE THIEVES

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

I'd ask for refunds in all three cases. I work too hard for my money, and I need every dime I can get!

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

On all three scenarios, I would suggest that you stay home with your cheap self!!! Come on now!!!

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

#1 yes

#2 No

#3 Yes

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

Go get it back. A dollar here %26amp; there, it can really add up.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

in all cases, i would get my money back. most of us are by no means rich, and i dont want to pay more for things then i have to.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

1. nope, it is only a dollar

2. probably not

3. i would yell at her for taking MY money without MY permission...

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

#1- let it ride- you will spend more than that on gas

#2- depends on how much money I had at the time

#3- definately confront her about it... I hate the "mandatory" or self assumed tips...

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

I don't make enough money to let any of these things slide. Give me back my money B**CH!

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

Heyah

I Would ask for a refund on all of them!! It might make me sound cheap but if you have a family to provide for you need all the money you can get!!!

Merry Christmas =)

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

I let it ride :)

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

sc#1. i would go my dollar!

sc#2. i would let it slide if the food %26amp; service was great

sc#3. i would ask for all my change back and decide what i will give her, which might be nada after that lil stunt.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

#1 %26amp; #2 i let it slide, it's not a lot of money, #3 I let her know she short-changed me and ask for my $30 back.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

work to hard to give my money away show me the $

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

#1 go back, Walmart can afford to give me my dollar back.

#2 let it slide, your mistake

#3 ask for it all, she shouldn't assume

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

i'd prob let the first on ride, would depend on my mood that day.

but the other 2 i'd get my money back!!

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

i'd get a refund for all the cases

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

ask for refunds, no 1 should assume that you are going to tip them.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

depends how much you need the money....although in scenario three i think you should probably get your whole $50 back.....but on the first one, who cares, its only a dollar........

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

I would probably let the first two slide. The first is not a significant difference and wouldn't upset me too terribly. The second one was my mistake, and I would be far too embarressed to call and ask for it back! The third, ooh yes, I would dispute it immediatly.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

The first 2 scenarios I'd just let it ride, the third, well tipping isn't customary here so I don't really know but I'd let it ride if I was satisfied with the service.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

#1 Let it ride. A trip back to the store for $1 isn't worth my time.

#2 Most Likely, let it ride .. that's my mistake

#3 Confront the hairstylist. I'd tip 20%, but on the actual service, not products!

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

1. Wal-mart does to much business to let them get away with over charging. This would indicate all people buying that cereal was over charged because the computer was not changed.

2. At a restaurant I would never return to take back a tip.

3. You should not be basing your hair stylist tip on products purchased on the cut and highlight. You are tipping for service.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

1. Take the receipt back and get the difference. They should also give you a sales reward for over charging you. I hate Wal*Mart. They do that ALL the time thinking people either won't notice or won't go back.

2. I would chalk it up to experience and realize just how happy you made your server!!!

3. Unfortunately, I would let that ride as well. I think it is too bold of the stylist to assume you meant to tip but next time I would most certainly have smaller bills to get closer to the actual bill.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

#1. No. Assuming I made the discovery after I got home, I'd spend 3 dollars in gas getting that dollar back.

#2. No. My screw up, not theirs. On the bright side, I probably made her day and just about guaranteed good service next time.

#3. Yes. I'm a generous tipper, but one way to piss me off quickly is to assume the tip.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

i would let the first too slide but not the last more money involved

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

the first 2 scenarios, i would let slide but the 3rd one i would call her on. I hate it when people make assumptions on anything that concerns me financially...even though i probably would tip her, she should not automatically assume it, she should wait for you to give it to her.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

get your money back, especially from the hair dresser, if you didnt tell her that you wanted to leave her a tip, shes stealing money from you.

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

Scenario #1 - I'd keep the receipt in my purse for the next time I shopped there, and bring it to the service desk for an adjustment. Not worth a special trip obviously.

Scenario #2 - I'd let it ride.

Scenario #3 - I wouldn't not tip my hair girl, even hypothetically!

Poll: Ask for a refund or let it slide?

yeah i agree with big prich. it's not the value of the money it's the moral of it all. if it was one price they should give it to you at that price and if the tips you had in mind were not the actual tips that you gave, then they should not "assume" that that's what you gave them. and if it really happened to you they probably needed the money more than you did... with the exception of walmart.
