i live in California. Yesteday, i went to a hair salon to get my hair trimmed. prior to arriving, i asked if they take walk ins for trims and they said yes. when i got there, one of the stylist and the receptionist "the only person who could cut your KIND of hair isnt in untill Friday." notice, there were other people in the salon getting their hair cut. when i asked them what they meant, they said they didnt feel comfortable working on "chemically straightened hair." WTF!! I dont have chemicals. no disrespect, but Im a quarter black..but most people think im hispanic. my hair is naturally curly...but i flat iron it and use salon products. I am enraged. so, what? if i wouldve been black they wouldnt have done my hair? why dont they just put up a sign that says, "no blacks allowed!" ?
I eventually had my hair trimmed by a really sweet hispanic stylist at the salon but this is an outrage
WHo do i report a racist salon to???

But i wouldnt be so rash about this.

Make sure you tell them everything that happened.
WHo do i report a racist salon to???
I can understand how a customer might think this was a racist incident. However, from a stylist's point of view, I can understand how it wasn't. It would be like asking a Taco Bell to whip up some sushi. Perhaps you could relay the incident to the State Cosmetology Board and get their opinion. Report It
WHo do i report a racist salon to???
It wasn't ignorance, and Claire's not wrong. Your rude, thats what it is. I understand you got mad because a salon didn't think they could cut your hair properly. If they truly were racist they would of took your $ and gave you a bad haircut. Just deal with it and find a better place. Report It
WHo do i report a racist salon to???
So she said that by just looking at your face BEFORE touching your hair. Kinda biased.I can see how you wouldve felt hurt. They could've handled this better and at least touched your hair and let you know if they didn閳ユ獩 feel comfortable for any reason. They're probably more ignorant than racist. Report It
WHo do i report a racist salon to???
That is not nescarilly racist. I think you're jumping to conclusions.
WHo do i report a racist salon to???
This really isn't un-common. A lot of stylists are not comfortable with cutting certain hair types.....I am Caucasian and have curly hair and where i get mine cut, only one stylist in the whole salon will touch curly hair. I don't think you should be upset that this was said to you and I certainly dont think it was meant to be a racial slur...would you have rather somoene who wasnt comfortable do your hair and you end up walking out of the place with a cut you hate?
To "answer" your question you cannot report that to anyone, they would laugh...you have to understand that this is not uncommon in the hair industry. It wasnt a personal attack on you, i think you just need to calm down
WHo do i report a racist salon to???
thats not racist.
WHo do i report a racist salon to???
That doesn't sound like racism, it sounds like poor customer service. By "your kind of hair" she meant the kind of hair you have, not "we don't serve your kind."
WHo do i report a racist salon to???
it isn't that they're trying to be rascist. ppl feel more comfortble cutting hair with a similar texture to their own so they can better understand any problems the client is having. think. if you cad some caucasian person with naturally straight hair, they wouldn't know how to deal with a different hair type and could've given you a cut you can't handle.
WHo do i report a racist salon to???
..that's not really racist.
WHo do i report a racist salon to???
sorry but thats not racist
abviously your hair was unique to what those stylists are used to and they probibly werent comfortable doing your hair cause they didnt know how to work with it properly and didnt want to screw it up!!
im sorry but u need to learn to b more understanding, dont turned to racism every time!
this is the 21st century, very few people are truly racist (anti-blacks) any more.
