I'm a 25 yr old, very skinny and 5 feet tall asian girl (with brown skin). my hair is straight with somewhat straight with waves here and there (not dead straight) and almost upto my knees. I don't want to chop it off or get rid of the legth...but I want to look a little bit different from the front...may be add some bangs/highlights... etc. pls help me...

ps- once I went to a salon to get some layers, and get a trim. The stylist chopped off about a foot off of it without my permission and I was so sad. It's a part of my whole identity so I don't want to cut it off. plssss... I don't want to do the same mistake again. Thank youuu...

I think no matter what you decide to do, a hairdresser will try to 'neaten up the edges' by cutting some of your hair off. I hate it... I always avoid getting a 'trim' because its never just a trim.

Getting some bangs sounds like a great idea! I would go a blunt style - straight across.. that would look really god because your hair is not quite dead straight so it won't look too harsh.

Getting colour put in your hair would be pretty expensive because its so long (im so jealous btw) but maybe you could get so foils that come from underneath the hair.. sounds weird.. thy're called undertones/colours.. and what the hairdresser does is they colour your hair so that you can see it underneath a top layer of hair.. so imagine a little bit of caramel colour (or whatever you decide on) peeking out underneath your normal hair colour. That way it looks as though you have no regrowth.. which is great if you dont want to keep revisiting the hairdresser and it can look fairly natural too (depending on the colour).

As for colour I think you could go either way - lighter or darker or even red! If you got a sort of blue black colour - tht could look cool - may be hard to notice though. I would be tempted to go lighter - just a few shades or so. Or if you're looking for something completely different - go violet or red or blue! Blue would look awesome!

Yeah, definitely don't cut it... Of course it's part of who you are, but also, it's something that most guys find very attractive. My suggestion would be to try putting it up in different styles. With hair that long, you have an unlimited number of options. Don't go for the bangs though... one length is always better looking. Highlights may not be so bad, but I'd suggest try putting in up in different styles... There are a lot of webpages out there that have different styles you can wear your hair.
