Can y'all explain this? Would prefer the opinion of men...?

Why do men prefer that their gf's/wives have longer hair? Before every trip to my stylist both husbands and my bf's said "please, not too short". If I had my hair cut and surprised someone, the reply was, "Why did you cut your hair?" My hair is very thick (id est, hot year round) and I look damned cute in short hair. So why have the guys in my life prefered I keep it longer than I'd like?

I've heard this lament from men, too. I think that long hair is thought to be more feminine, more distinctly different than their manly selves. I suggested once to my husband that he was just too insecure with his manliness, and needed to have more of a girly girl. He didn't appreciate that. Oh well...I have short hair and three ex husbands; but I don't suggest that one has anything to do with the other....

cut it as you like .... maybe it's just that with long hair you have more options to show and you can change your look constantly, and with cut hair you will always look the same
