Can anyone recommend a good hairstylist in the San Jose, CA area?

I am looking to cut my hair - a much shorter style than I am used to, and I want to make sure that I find a good place and stylist. I don't want a bad short hair cut. If you know what I mean.

Also - I really can't afford to pay 55-70 for one. Based on previous experiences, sometimes it is not even worth the money. Any suggestions?

I've been going to her for 5 years. I get my hair cut every 6 weeks along with highlights and color. I pay about $65 for a cut and color but I think a cut would be about $25-30. I've referred about 4 -5 other women to her who have been happy with her. My hair is short (currently like a bob) and she worked well with me when I grew it out from shorter style.

In fact, one of the women I referred actually came up to me on the street and asked me who did my hair!
